BIOGRAPHY OF
Elizabeth Torres, Ed.D.
Elizabeth is a nonprofit leader who is committed to expanding educational equity through her work in education. She has extensive experience as a nonprofit education leader. In 2014, she co-founded Washington Global Public Charter School, a tuition-free nonprofit school providing a high-quality international education to students throughout Washington, DC. She currently serves as the school’s CEO. Under Elizabeth's leadership, Washington Global has won numerous academic awards, including being named a 2023 U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon School. Elizabeth is expanding Washington Global's successful model through her work with the nonprofit organization the Global Public Charter Foundation to positively impact education in historically underserved areas.
Elizabeth is committed to preventing human trafficking and raising awareness for this serious issue. Elizabeth currently resides in Washington, DC with her husband and daughter. She holds an Ed.D. in Neuroscience from The George Washington University, an M.A. in Education from The George Washington University, and a B.A. in History from Vassar College. She also studied history at the University of Oxford in Oxford, England.
