Yasmine Askalani
Yasmine Askalani is a passionate advocate for education, the arts, and the empowerment of individuals with disabilities. Her diverse upbringing across multiple countries has shaped her global perspective and deepened her commitment to humanitarian causes. Growing up in Belgium, Paris, Geneva, Kenya, Seychelles, and Greece, Yasmine developed a rich understanding of different cultures, which informs her advocacy work today. Fluent in several languages. She comprehends diversity and the universal values.
As the founder of Beautiful Minds Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Yasmine is dedicated to providing tailored support and hope to extraordinary children. The organization offers a wide range of thoughtfully designed activities and programs that foster personal growth and ignite passions. Through engaging excursions and a nurturing environment, Beautiful Minds Club serves as a safe haven where talents are celebrated within the autistic community. Yasmine’s firsthand experiences have deepened her understanding of the unique struggles faced by individuals on the spectrum, fueling her desire to create enriching opportunities that aid in their transition into adulthood.
In addition to her work in education, Yasmine founded “Saving Innocents”, an anti-trafficking organization, after serving as a board member for Deborah Sigmund’s Innocent at Risk organization since 2011. Through Saving Innocents, she continues the legacy and raises awareness about the horrific crime of human trafficking, working tirelessly to alleviate the suffering caused by This devastating issue.
Yasmine’s commitment to advocacy extends to her role on the Catholic Coalition for Special Education, where she has worked since 2008 to promote inclusion in Catholic schools and establish special education programs nationwide. Her efforts ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive in an inclusive educational setting.
Yasmine is on the Board of the Washington Opera Society. She brings a wealth of experience in fostering cultural connections through her extensive work with embassies and international communities. As a dedicated advocate for the arts, she is playing a pivotal role in helping to expand the organization’s reach and influence.
With a deep appreciation for opera and its ability to bridge cultures, Yasmine leverages her network to facilitate collaborations, secure sponsorships, and engage diverse audiences and ensuring a broader representation of global artistic traditions.
Yasmine is also actively involved in the community through her participation on the committee of St. Jude Hearts of Fashion, where she helps raise funds for pediatric cancer research and support. Furthermore, she has been a committee member of Keen, an organization dedicated to athletics for children with special needs, for over 20 years. Through Keen, Yasmine has facilitated opportunities for children to engage in sports and physical activities, promoting health, confidence, and camaraderie.
Before her extensive advocacy work, Yasmine enjoyed a successful career as a highly regarded interior designer from 1990 to 2008. She worked on notable projects, including the homes of prominent figures such as Steve Case, the Mars family, and the Egyptian embassy. Her keen eye for design not only made a mark in the interior design industry but also equipped her to create welcoming spaces for her nonprofit initiatives.
